Production for Saw: Legacy has begun and for fans of the franchise like myself this is a huge deal, the eighth film in the franchise created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell has been a mystery for a while now so this news is very exciting. Whilst we don’t know the story or cast, we have been shown a couple of revealing set photos one of which is very intriguing. Saw: Legacy is written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfiner, the duo behind Piranha and Sorority Row. It is also being directed by Peter and Michael spierig (Daybreakers and Predestination.)
The two set photos show a cemetery and on the second photo it shows John Kramer’s (Tobin Bell) grave dug up with the coffin sticking out of the dirt. Why? Well that’s a question a lot of fans of the franchise are wondering. Could his body be exhumed for investigation or is it something else entirely?
These photos are a huge deal for Saw fans as Kramer known as “Jigsaw”, is the evil mastermind behind the Saw traps and even though he died in the third Saw, Bell reprised his role throughout the franchise in a series of flashbacks. Saw: The Final Chapter revealed that Jigsaw had created a cult of followers either by choice or mistake who continue to share his message.
Although these pictures are not officially confirmed to be set pictures from Saw: Legacy if they are it’s very intriguing to know why his grave is dug up.
I personally have been a huge Saw fan since I was 15 years old and over the past 9 years I cannot recall how many times I have watched the first 7 films so the prospect of getting a new Saw film next year (according to IMDb release is 27th October 2017) is very very exciting. Saw has been a huge part of my life and I’m sure many other horror fans around the world, I recently met Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) and Costas Mandylor (Hoffman) and they were two of the nicest blokes you could ever meet well Tobin still freaked the hell out of me but if you ever get the opportunity go for it you won’t regret it.
